Episode 187:
Exploring Organizational Efficiency through Governance, with Robin Tompkins
Exploring strategic optimization.
There are many roles of a board director, but sometimes it is essential to take a step back and question the established processes and practices. As Robin Tompkins joins us today, she shares about the key differences that boards can make by optimizing an organization’s structure.
As an accomplished executive, Robin took her drive and talents and built Olive Hill, a professional consultancy which focuses on individual and team leadership development. The firm offers services both for individuals and teams, including consultation in the areas of executive coaching, board governance, strategic planning, succession planning, diversity, equity and inclusion consultation and board placement of women, minorities and individuals of underrepresented communities.
Prior to founding Olive Hill, she spent five years practicing law for the government, fifteen years as corporate counsel for a Fortune 1000 public utility, seven years in the financial services field and three years in entrepreneurial endeavors. Over her three decades living and working in the Pacific Northwest, she developed a broad array of local, regional and national relationships. She has worked with foundations, corporations and NGOs on various issues in her capacity as corporate executive, state commissioner, board member, strategic advisor, advocate and citizen.
Her years of experience as a coach, lawyer and manager have refined an intuitive understanding of when to push clients out of their comfort zone and when to pause and acknowledge accomplishments. Robin is driven by helping clients reconnect with their values and empowering them to use that knowledge to fulfill their potential. She specializes in working with female and minority clients who are C-suite executives, nonprofit executive directors, founders of start-up companies, and professional executives in leadership positions.
In today’s episode, Robin dives into the impact of changes made when reevaluating the fundamentals of an organization. You won’t want to miss this episode of Boardroom Bound!
